Figure 4: (a) A 14-year-old boy presented with an adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (Lenke 5C+). He underwent deformity correction and instrumented posterior fusion. Two weeks later, he developed a wound discharge and a paraspinal abscess. He was febrile, ESR = 114 mm, CRP = 270 mg/L. Pus grew Staphylococcus aureus which was sensitive to oxacillin. He was readmitted to hospital and underwent a two-staged debridement. Following the first procedure, the implant began to get exposed.
